Popkov Yuri Solomonovich - a great scholar, a specialist in the field of information technology and automation of complex systems, the author of more than 130 scientific publications including 10 monographs.

YS Popkov founded a scientific school in the area of automation and mathematical modeling of complex stochastic systems. He  offered effective methods for investigating the dynamics of stochastic systems with discontinuous nonlinearities, which are actively developing the theory of optimization and identification of stochastic dynamical systems.

YS Popkov brought great contribution to the strengthening and development of international scientific cooperation, actively participating in international research on information technology, the spatial dynamics of socio-economic systems, economic migration mechanisms. Within the EU project "The population of Europe in the III millennium" YS Popkov developed a mathematical model to predict the limitation of the EU population. They have been prepared an agreement on scientific-technical cooperation between ISA RAS  and  the University of Stuttgart (Germany), North Carolina (USA), National Science Foundation in the Netherlands, Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Y/.S. Popkov is  a member of many international and national scientific societies and commissions in Russia, the United States, Germany, China, Kazakhstan, the Netherlands, Bulgaria.
