Abstract. 

The results of the study of the problem of ensuring the safe development of Russia in the XXI century are presented. It is shown that in the conditions of Russia’s civilizational confrontation with the countries of the Western world and the unprecedented increase in geopolitical tension, Russia’s security cannot be reduced only to the goals, objectives and methods of protecting national and international security documented before the start of Russia’s special operation to demilitarize and denazify Ukraine. We are talking about the very survival of Russia, the protection of our cultural and civilizational code. The authors propose to introduce in section VI of the National Security Strategy of the Russian Federation a new component of national security – “Civilizational security”, as guaranteed by constitutional, legislative and practical measures, the protection and security of vital interests of man, society and Russia as the leader state of the Eurasian local civilization, from the impact of modern external and internal threats.
